Bunny Day

“Explain to me why we’re doing this, Chrissy,” said a white rabbit in a blue polka dotted hood as she looked at the items on the table with contempt.  The items were a carton of hard-boiled eggs and cups of various colored dyes.

“Aw, how could you forget, Francine!” exclaimed a white rabbit that looked similar to Francine, but wore pink instead of blue. “We’re doing this for Bunny Day, sparkles!”

The snooty rabbit gave her sister a blank look. “Chrissy, we don’t celebrate Bunny Day, karat.  In fact, no one in the village does because it means having to deal with that Zipper T. Bunny.”

“The Mayor celebrates it, sparkles.”

“That’s because he has an unhealthy obsession with trying to collect all of the furniture sets and that includes the Egg series, karat.  If it wasn’t for that he’d probably kick that fake rabbit out of the village,” explained Francine as she crossed her arms.

“That explains that, but it doesn’t explain why I’m here, amigo,” stated a brown rabbit with a yellow top hat.

Francine cast him a side glare and gave out a hiss. “Because if I have to suffer through this, so will you, O’Hare!”

The smug rabbit gave off a grin that suited his personality. “You sure you didn’t just want to spend some time with me?”

Francine’s eye twitched in annoyance.  Oh how she wanted to knock some sense in the idiot’s head.  Of course since she didn’t want to upset her sister, she restrained herself from doing so.

“Come on, Sis!  We need to get these eggs colored before the celebrations start, sparkle!”

Letting out a sigh, Francine got to work.  Might as well keep Chrissy happy.

Later, after the eggs were colored and dry, the three rabbits went into the village to find the Mayor.  When they found him, he directed them towards Zipper much to Francine and O’Hare’s chagrin.

“Hippity-hoppity wish-wash-whoa!  Happy Bunny Day to all of you!” exclaimed the costumed mascot. “And what brings you to me this fine day?”

“…We were asked by Mayor Yuu to bring these to you, karat,” replied Francine with a grimace as she, Chrissy, and O’Hare held out the colored eggs.

“Excellent!  This year’s Bunny Day will be the best yet!”

The snooty rabbit couldn’t help but let out a groan.  She still wished she knew exactly how she got dragged into this mess.  Then she cast a glare towards her sister, who was still smiling that stupid smile of hers.  Why couldn’t she have been an only child?

“Hey, any chance you can take these off our hands now?  We do have other things to do, amigo,” said O’Hare with a raised eyebrow.

“…You don’t want to celebrate Bunny Day with me?” questioned Zipper as he tilted his head in confusion.

“No,” came the deadpan reply from Francine and O’Hare.

“…But it will be fun!”

“Maybe we should stay and celebrate, Sis,” said Chrissy, turning to Francine with a slight pleading look.

Not having any of that, Francine grabbed Chrissy’s hand and started to drag her away from Zipper.  O’Hare followed not far behind.  Zipper frowned at this.

“It’s times like this I really wish I chose a different career path.”
