Month of Pink '16 19: Raspberyl

The sound of giggling came from Raspberyl as she made her way down the hall.  She had a new idea that would up her delinquent status and get on Mao’s nerves at the same time.  Giggling once more, she reached the classroom that held her favorite person.

“Oh Mao~” sang the little pink-haired demon as she opened the door.

Sitting at the desk, the white-haired honor student gritted his teeth in annoyance.  He knew that tone of voice and it never brought anything good.

“What do you want, Beryl?” demanded Mao as he kept focus on his work.  He would have ignored her, but she was very persistent when she needed to be.

“Just had a question for you.”

Mao let out a sigh of frustration.  He knew that anything that came out of Beryl’s mouth was usually asinine and he really didn’t want to deal with her right now.

“What is it, Beryl?  And make it quick!  I’m really busy at the moment, if you hadn’t noticed,” replied Mao as he readjusted his glasses.

The little demon merely rolled her eyes at Mao’s attitude. “Okay then, Mr. Smarty Pants!  Demons are supposed to do bad deeds, right?”

Mao gave Beryl a deadpan look. “Really?  You’re asking me that question?”

“Just answer it!”

“…Yes, Beryl.  Demons are supposed to do bad deeds,” replied Mao with another sigh.  He then glared at the girl. “Of course you wouldn’t know that, you delinquent!”

A smirk appeared on Beryl’s face. “True.  I am a delinquent, what with all of the good deeds I do, but I’m still more of a demon than you are.”

Now Mao was confused. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“Demons are supposed to do bad deeds, but I perform good deeds…”

“Yes, we’ve already established that,” said Mao, getting more and more annoyed. “That doesn’t explain how you’re more of a demon than I am.”

“I’m getting to that.  You really need to learn patience, Mao,” said Beryl.  She giggled when Mao let out a growl. “Anyway, if demons are supposed to do bad deeds and I do good deeds, which by demon standards is the ultimate bad deed, by your logic I am the ultimate demon since I am technically doing the biggest bad deed a demon could do.  In a way, I’m more of an honor student that you are!”

Mao stared at Beryl with a blank expression as her words floated around in his head.  There was no way her words held any truth, but as he kept thinking them over he could not find any flaw to them!  She was completely right!

At that moment, Mao looked like he was about to have a breakdown. “Th-There is no way you’re a better demon than me!  I’m an honor student!”

“Not anymore, Mao~”

Beryl ran out of the room in a fit of giggles as Mao let out a horrified scream.  Maybe now he’ll get off her case about her delinquent life style.
